Before you start
- Time yourself properly. The clock is the part people are unprepared for.
- Never leave one blank. There is no penalty for a wrong answer in the real test, so a guess is always worth more than a gap.
- Flag and come back. Use the flag button rather than stalling on one question.
- Read the whole question twice. Most lost marks are misreadings, not gaps.

The Life in the UK test in 2026
The real test has not changed: 24 questions, 45 minutes, and you need 75% (18 right) to pass. It costs £50, you book it online on GOV.UK at least 3 days ahead, and the questions come only from the official guide, Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents. What is new around it in 2026.

Is this the real Life in the UK test?
No. Nobody outside the test provider has the real questions, which are confidential. These are our own questions, written from the official guide the real test is set from, in the same format: 24 questions in 45 minutes.
How many questions do I need to get right to pass?
18 out of 24. GOV.UK says you need 75% or more to pass, and 18 of 24 is exactly 75%.
Are the questions different every time?
Yes. Each mock draws 24 questions from a pool of more than 450, weighted towards the chapters with the most to learn, so history and government come up most.
Is the mock test really free?
Yes. No account, no email address and no limit on retakes. Every answer is explained at the end.
How many times can I take the real test?
As many times as you need. GOV.UK says you can rebook as often as you like, but you pay the £50 fee each time.
