The terms, in English.

1. What Brittify is

Brittify is an independent study aid for the Life in the UK test. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Home Office or the UK Government. Nothing on this site is immigration advice or legal advice. We cannot tell you whether you need to take the test, and we will not try. For that, read the rules on GOV.UK or speak to a regulated immigration adviser about your own case.

2. We do not promise you a pass

We work hard on accuracy and we think the method is a good one. What we cannot do is guarantee a result, because that depends on the work you put in and on a test we do not set or mark. Any practice score on this site is our estimate of where you are, not a prediction and not a promise.

3. Buying the books

Both books are digital files. When you buy one, you get a download link straight away and the file is yours to keep and to print for your own use.

Refunds. Digital downloads are exempt from the usual 14-day right to cancel once you have started the download, and you agree to that when you buy. That is standard for digital goods and it is the law we are relying on, not a policy we invented. If a file is corrupt, will not open, or is not what the page said it was, tell us and we will fix it or refund you. Email hello@brittify.com.

Prices. Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. We can change a price at any time, but never after you have paid.

4. What you can do with what you buy

You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the books and the question bank for your own study. You may print copies for yourself. You may not resell them, share the files publicly, upload them anywhere, or use them to run a class or a business without asking us first. Ask us: the answer is often yes, and ESOL tutors are exactly who we want using this.

The unlock code printed in the books opens the practice bank on this site. It is meant for the person who bought the book. Publishing the code defeats the only thing paying for the work, so please do not.

5. The free parts stay free

The mock test and the free practice questions are free to use with no account. We can change what is in them, and we can stop offering them, but we will not turn something that is free today into a paywall you have already relied on for a test next week.

6. Your email address

If you join the list, we store your email address and your test date if you gave us one. We use it to send you the thing you asked for and one email when the course opens. You can leave at any time. The whole of it is in the privacy notice.

7. Our content

The writing, questions, illustrations and design on this site and in the books are ours, and they are protected by copyright. The facts themselves are not ours and could not be: they come from the official handbook, which is Crown copyright, and we express them in our own words. We do not reproduce handbook text and we do not use real test questions.

If you think we have got something wrong, or used something we should not have, tell us on the corrections page and we will look at it properly.

8. Availability

We try to keep the site up and working. We cannot promise it will never be down, and we are not liable for losses caused by an outage. If the site is unavailable when you need it, the books work offline, which is part of why they exist.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Subject to that, our total liability to you for anything connected with Brittify is limited to what you paid us. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including a test result.

If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these terms cannot take away. Nothing here affects them.

10. Changes to these terms

We can update these terms. If we change something that matters, the date at the top changes and, where it affects something you have bought, we will tell the email list. The terms that apply to a purchase are the ones that were live when you bought it.

11. Law and complaints

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you have a complaint, email hello@brittify.com first. We would much rather fix it than argue about it.
