Brittify Have a code?

Privacy

What we collect, which is almost nothing.

No advertising pixels, no tracking cookies and no cookie banner, because there is nothing we would need your consent for. Here is the whole picture.

Cookies

We set none. Not one, not even a "functional" one. There is no consent banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to. The only thing we ever write to your device is the unlock code from a book, if you type one in, and that is described below.

Analytics

We do not run analytics at all. We cannot tell you how many people visited this page, because we are not counting.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. We chose it over Google Analytics deliberately: it sets no cookies, stores no personal data, builds no profile, and cannot follow you to any other website. It tells us that a page was viewed, not who viewed it.

If your browser sends "Do Not Track" or a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not load it at all.

If you only practise

We collect nothing. The mock test and the practice questions run entirely in your browser. Your answers, your score and which questions you got wrong are never sent to us. When you close the tab they are gone.

If you enter an unlock code from one of the books, it is saved in your own browser's local storage so you do not have to type it again. That never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data, or pressing "Forget my code" on the practice page, removes it.

If you join the email list

We store the email address you give us, and the test date if you choose to add one. Nothing else. No name, no IP address, no location, no marketing profile.

  • Why: to send you the film watchlist, and one email when the course opens.
  • Lawful basis: your consent, given by submitting the form. You can withdraw it at any time and we will delete the record.
  • How long: until the app launches and we have emailed you, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. If the course has not opened within two years we delete the list.
  • We never sell or share it. Not with advertisers, not with anyone.

If you report a correction

We store what you typed in the form, and your email address only if you chose to give one. We use it to reply about that report and nothing else.

Who else touches the data

Two suppliers, both acting on our instructions:

  • Vercel hosts this website. Their servers keep short-lived technical logs of requests, as every web server does.
  • Supabase stores the email list and correction reports, in a database hosted in London.

We also load our two typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google when you open a page. If you would rather that did not happen, a content blocker will stop it and the site still works.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is OYS Labs Ltd (company number 17363235), a company registered in England and Wales, trading as Brittify. Write to us at hello@brittify.com about anything on this page.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@brittify.com and we will do it. There is not much to look through. If you are unhappy with how we have handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

This site is for adults preparing for the Life in the UK test. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this notice changes we will update the date below. If the change is significant and you are on the email list, we will tell you before it takes effect.
